2009 was a very good year in the vineyard. There were very few days over 90 degrees in August, and the nights were cool. Ripening happened quickly and acids were high. Some irrigation was used.
Our single variety Cabernet Franc is harvested earlier than that used in the Meritage to produce a wine with fresh acidity. A short maceration after fermentation extracts only soft, silty tannins. The wine ages in 500 liter French oak puncheons for nine months.
